Dear Friends,
Three years have passed since the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre and the Burt
Reynolds Museum moved from its home on Indiantown Road in Jupiter into its new location in
Lake Park, Florida. We are enjoying our alliance with the people of Lake Park and are grateful
for the support of the mayor and council. However, the dream of once again having a home
of our own remains strong. To make our dream come true, we need you -- the many fans and
friends of Burt Reynolds who recognize the contribution he has made to the entertainment
industry over the past 55 years.
If you never had an opportunity to visit the Museum, allow me to paint you a picture: On a
backdrop of scarlet and lit by crystal chandeliers, the Museum walls played host to signed
photographs and posters of celebrities from the golden age of film to the present day. Glass cases
displayed the hundreds of awards won by Burt Reynolds as well as props from his many famous
movies, including Deliverance and Smokey and the Bandit. The main stage anchored it all with
plays and concerts featuring many of Mr. Reynolds’ good friends and our own talented actors.
Even though the public has been denied the pleasure of seeing Mr. Reynolds’ collection for the
past three years, they haven’t forgotten. Every day Managing Director Donna Carbone receives
phone calls asking “when” we will again open our doors. Her answer is always “soon” but to
make that happen, we need the support of all of Mr. Reynolds’ fans. Imagine helping to create
a lasting legacy to a man who has provided years of enjoyment for you and your families – you
can do that with a minimal donation.
The Burt Reynolds Institute continues to offer acting, improvisation, writing and filmmaking
classes for both adults and children. Recent additions to the course curriculum include Creative
Writing for the Author in all of Us, Improv-a-Prompter – a six week teleprompter proficiency
course, Side by Side – an improvisation class in which adults and young actors work together,
and Acting for the Camera. Unlike most schools, we are not about profit. With Burt Reynolds’
philosophy of “giving back” for the good fortune in his life, classes are low priced, making
them affordable to everyone. Our goal is to help people keep their dreams alive and, maybe,
even realize them with a little help from their friends at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and
Theatre.
Please help by donating to the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre. Send your checks
to: Post Office Box 264, Jupiter, Florida 33458
For more information, call 561 743-9955.
Thank you.
-Douglas Rill

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: THE BURT REYNOLDS INSTITUTE IMPROV PLAYERS IN
"GOBBLE GOBBLE HEY! TURDUCKEN IMPROV SHOW (A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING!)" 11/15
THANKSGIVING IMPROV SHOW “STUFFED” WITH LAUGHTER FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
On Saturday, November 15, at 7:30PM, the Lake Park Mirror Ballroom will host a fun,
family night of improvisation presented by the wholesome and hilarious Burt Reynolds Institute Improv
Players. The evening’s offering will be unique in that it brings together both adult and young actors performing
side by side in an unscripted and always unexpected two hours of laughs and guffaws.
Under the direction of master improvisational artist Todd Vittum, budding and experienced improvisational
artists from child to childlike will have the audience rolling in the aisles. The show comes with only one
warning: laughing is mandatory!
Vittum has been teaching improv for many years and is himself an experienced performer. He has designed
innovative scenarios that make the imagination come alive and his no scripts–no rules approach to training is
guaranteed to bring a look of surprise and pleasure to the faces of ticket holders. The spontaneity of response--especially when children are involved--is the stuff of legend.
In an interview about his training techniques, Vittum said, “Most people think improv is only about being
funny. It isn’t. However with my troupe, the humor comes from the honesty of the scene and funny just
happens!”
The good times start at 7:30PM and don’t end until the laughter dies away. Guests are encouraged to bring a
prop for use by the performers. Props will be returned at the end of the evening.
Tickets are $20. Reserve with your credit card by calling 561-743-9955 or pay at the door by cash or
check only. Come early, seating is limited. Doors open at 6:45PM.

HELP FIGHT HUNGER LOCALLY!
The Lighthouse ArtCenter is pleased to be collaborating with Empty Bowls, an international, grassroots
effort to fight hunger locally. Local artists and ArtCenter members will make 1,000 bowls at our ceramics
studio at the School of Art in the coming months to donate to the cause.
During the two-day event in Palm Beach and West Palm Beach on February 13 and 14, five-
star restaurants and chefs will create signature soups, and local bakers will provide rustic breads. Guests
donate $25, select an artisan bowl, share in a simple meal of bread and soup and keep their empty bowls
as a powerful reminder of all of the bowls that remain empty in Palm Beach County. 100% of the
proceeds benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
You are invited to create ceramic bowls with us to donate. (You don't need to know how to throw on the
wheel; pinch pots and coil built are great, too, and we will show you how!)
Here's how you can help:
- Join a FREE ceramics workshop to create bowls to donate! If you don’t know how, we’ll teach you
the basics of bowl making. Bring your friends and coworkers. Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays 1-
4 p.m. Call the School of Art to sign up!
- The Lighthouse ArtCenter, in partnership with Bethesda-By-The-Sea Church, will be donating
1,000 bowls to the Empty Bowls events on February 13 and 14, 2015... Help us make bowls!
- Experienced ceramic artists may sign up for studio time at the Lighthouse ArtCenter School of Art,
or simply drop off completed bowls.
- There will be a professional artists’ display table at the events, promoting select artists’ work.
For more information, please email: Cynthia@LighthouseArts.org.
All proceeds will benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank.

IN OTHER NEWS...
Gator and White Lightning are coming out on Blue Ray on November 11. Make sure to get your copy!
BURT REYNOLDS INSTITUTE ACTORS NEEDED FOR STAGED READINGS
Creative Writing for the Author in All of Us students have been enjoying the talents of the Burt Reynolds Institute actors during the twice-a-month staged readings. Scripts under development are presented in staged reading format so that writers can hear how their words will sound when delivered on film. This allows for questions and feedback from the actors which benefit the writers during the editing process. Both actors and writers have been enjoying their time together and have gained a new respect for the effort it takes to bring a script from conception to completion. Actors wishing to participate in these readings should contact Donna at info@burtreynoldsinstitute.org or by calling 561-743-9955.
